I got Windows Vista Home Premium Upgrade yesterday and I was installing late in the night after work. Sure it is good, but still lots of drivers are yet to be updated which Microsoft is still looking into it. So, you might have Windows update for about 5 to 10 MB everyday at least for the next few months.

Vista Home Premium Upgrade

My computer hardware is little more than 2 years old, a HP Pavilion t730i system that came with Windows XP Home. Since I had an earlier original version of windows, I opted for an upgrade version on Vista Home Premium. Just before I got Vista, I upgraded the RAM to 1.5 GB (1GB + 256MB +256MB) but I read an article in PC World that 1 GB or 2 GB doesn’t really matter that much for performance. Apart from that my computer has Intel Pentium 4, 2.93 GHz in Intel 915 Express chipset with integrated Intel GMA 900 Graphics.

But for Windows Aero to work, one should have a minimum of Intel 945 Chipset as the lower chipsets does not support WDDM Driver, which is a basic requirement for Aero to work. Only XPDM drivers are available for Intel 910 and 915 chipsets to work with Windows Vista. And Intel is not coming up with WDDM driver for 915 due to some constraint. So, if anyone badly wants aero and has a chipset lower than 945, then he has to get a new motherboard definitely.

As of now everything seems to be working fine and seamlessly. Most of the functions is taken care by Windows itself in the background except for the nice little pop-up for your permission to do so. Just working around with new features and will keep it posted.
