I had the same issue with internet explorer, I tried everything, even firefox had problems. Then I checked the time and date settings on my laptp and found that they had reset to a week earlier. I corrected the date and everything started working.

I saw the same message when some link tried to open in IE. ( which I otherwise never use )

Use... Firefox. ( It is Safer, Faster, and has a ton of very useful (free) Ad-Ons

We don't have to... DELIBERATELY use all of the Microsoft Crap !

Other companies make money by producing products that people are WILLING to pay for.

Microsoft makes money by FORCING people to pay for their junk.

Their semi-functional, bug ridden, malware magnet that they call a browser is one item that I quit using years ago.

I also replaced the horribly overpriced Microsoft Office with "Open Office" - (www.openoffice.org), which totally is free.

Save your money, and get a... MAC

If you bought a CAR that caused a never-ending series of sputters, shutdowns, frustrations, and loss of time, had hundreds of "Bugs", that required constant tune-ups, and never did even work right to begin with... would you buy another one from the same company ?

What would your reaction be when the "necessary" tune-ups... actually caused more problems ?

What would you think if the car company started advertising the "good news" that rather than fixing your model, they were coming out with new on that would replace the one that you now have ?

How would you feel when you found out that they would not give you back your money (or any portion of it), and that they were not only obsoleting your car without ever fixing it, but that they also intended to charge you the full price for the new one ?

Yep, they are spending millions on advertising the NEW model, But they ain't gonna' fix YOUR Model.

If you think all of that would make you mad, just imagine how you are going to feel when you meekly accept all of this crap; accept the frustrations, the loss of time and money, swallow your pride, and Pay Your Hard Earned Money for the NEW model.

think how are you going to feel when you (finally) get the the NEW Model and start finding NEW Bugs, NEW Crashes, NEW Back Doors, and of course... NEW "UPDATES" ?

Those who do not study History are... Bound To Repeat It !

And, MICROSOFT... HAS A PROVEN HISTORY !

I have been setting money aside, and will be getting my "New Model" from Apple.

But, I hope you enjoy your "New Improved" version of Windows when you (finally) get it.

And, I hope you don't mind paying for it.

Have a nice day, and... THINK ABOUT IT !

How I resolved the (Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working) error in Vista Home Computer by doing these steps:
1. Open Internet Options.
2. Click the Advance Tab.
3. Scroll down to Security.
4. Remove the check mark in the box next to:
Enable Memory Protection To Help Mitigate Online Attacks.
5. Restart Your Computer.
This worked for me.
I haven't had anymore problems sence I made the change in Oct.2008.
The thing with resetting Internet Explorer is that you will lose some personal settings that you really might want to keep. By using the above instructions. You won't have to lose any of your previous settings.
Please, let me know if this works for you. It sure worked for me.

My one month old Dell with Vista Home Premium gets the IE Has Stopped Running box about every 15 minutes or so and only on certain websites like Raging Bull for example. It works fine with Firefox but, IE has a lot of things I haven't found on Firefox including so many sites tell me I need plugins and when I try to do them Firefox won't allow the install. Adobe (latest version) doesn't work well with Firefox, if at all. Also Vista in general really stinks. You'd think that after this many years they'd finally get something right. Next time I am going to do what so many friends have done...junked their pc and switched to a MAC. They all say they love it and never have a problem...PERIOD!!! No more Dell's or Windows for me!

I've got this problem after installing the Google toolbar on my Vista Home Basic O/S with Service Pack 1. IMHO, no hotfix or workaround solution is available.

Fuck it up that damned Vista !@&^!!@!@#* into the trash can, format your HDD again and go back to XP!

I have the Vista Home Premium. And all of a sudden Internet Explorer 7 would stop working whenever I wanted to play PoGo. I could sign in to PoGo okay. But when I click the game that I wanted to play. The error message would pop up saying " Internet Explorer has stopped working ". The solution was always about the DEP (Data Execution Prevention). I'd follow the instruction in Help and Support in the Start Menu. But that didn't work. I even switched to FireFox which was cool. But I'v always been used to Iternet Explorer and didn't want it to out do me. So I thought I'd try to figure out the problem one more time. After a long day still not wanting to reset the Internet Explorer. I decided one more time to go into Internet Options in the " Advance " tab and carefully read what was checked in the check boxes. The DEP information is all about protecting your system memory. As I scrolled down in the "Advance" colume I finally noticed that there was a check in ( Enable memory protection to help midigate online attacks ). For those of you with Vista's if your having the same problem (removed the check and clicked OK). I opened up PoGo again and clicked on the game that I wanted to play and " B A M " I was up and playing my games. No more " Internet Explorer has Stopped Working ". You'd think that Help and Support in the Start Menu should tell you to do this if the DEP and all other solutions wasen't solving the problem. U Think? Good Luck!

Step 1: Reset Internet Explorer (IE) & register files

====================================

Note: the following steps will remove all of installed add-ons and reset IE to default settings. We need to reinstall the add-ons after resetting

1. Click Start, please type “inetcpl.cpl” (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter to open the Internet options window.

2. Switch to the Advanced tab.

3. Click the "Reset Internet Explorer Settings" button.

4. Click Reset to confirm the operation.

5. Click Close when the resetting process has finished.

6. Uncheck the "Enable third-party browser extensions" option in the Settings box.

7. Click Apply, click OK.

Please check whether the issue persists.

Just to add one for option. I tried all the above to no avail. I just purchased two Toshiba laptops and had this same issue of IE 7 not being able to find any sites after removing some of the pre-installed stuff. I ended up going into the registry and removing any trace of the Google Desktop. I had un-installed this but apparently it does not come off cleanly. After this both system now work fine. Hopefully this is of help to some.
