Can one live without Internet and Computer? The answer is, Yes! indeed. But, life without Internet connection at home is really bugging. As I have shifted my house, the cable provider is yet to change the connection to my new house. I have been calling them around 6 to 7 times per day for the past couple of days but no response! Every time I call they say now and that now has never come yet. Everything is charged at premium but still this is the kind of service people get in the so-called silicon valley of India. I don’t understand why is that they can’t just send a guy to provide a cable line from the nearby supply cable? It won’t even take half-an-hour to fix the line. But I have no option other than to wait.

Now to talk about how it feels like to be without the Internet, it is really as if one is handicapped. You can’t get any information fast, no way to blog and read others blog, no information on what is the latest news in one’s particular field of interest, not able to meet online friends and so on. Maybe this is not the case for everybody but it is for the people who live in this virtual world and who are used to get all the benefits from the Internet. More and more people are starting to live this life on the Internet, blogging, surfing, chatting, gaming and so on. Recently, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) banned usage of Internet at night from 11.30 PM to 12.30 PM so as to avoid students blogging late at night and to make them sleep early.

Sitting and blogging late at night will surely have its implications on ones health at a later point of time, if not now. Do you sit late night to blog? Do you blog because it’s your hobby or are you addicted to it? Well, some may say that they are trying to earn some extra bucks through their website, but is it really worth it? I guess this would be based on the personal level and we can’t generalise this case. But still one ought to take this into consideration as to avoid being awake into the wee hours of morning.

In another experiment by ShutDownDay, will you be able to live away from your computer for 24 hours? To my surprise, more than 46000 people have said that they can live without computer for a day while only 7000 people have said that they cant. Maybe many people just said for the sake of saying, we can find out only on that day, whether they will survive when their needs exceeds their will. Its on 24th March, 2007 and its only 6 days away. So will you be living away from computer on shutdown day? I voted for ‘No’ but still I’ll try!
