In my earlier post, I discussed on ‘What is the difference between Add-on Domain, Parked Domain and Sub Domain?’ On continuing this series, let’s talk about how to create an add-on domain, parked domain and sub domain.
As most of the bloggers who would be reading this use cPanel as the primary control panel, this tutorial is based on cPanel.

Creating an Add-on Domain:

Step 1) In the Home page of the cPanel, click addon domain to set up or change settings of addon domain.
Step 2) Give the new domain name and give the Username/Directory/SubDomain name. The Directory name is the same as the domain name by default and if you would like to have a different subdomain name then change it in the second box.
Step 3) Give the password in the next box. This is the password for the new directory which will be created.
Step 4) Click ‘Add Domain’ to create a new addon domain.
Step 5) The other options in the page include Redirect Addon Domain to another URL, Remove Domain Redirection and Remove Addon Domain.

Step 3) You can also remove the parked domain from the list of parked domain in the drop box.

Creating a SubDomain:

Step 1) In the Home page of the cPanel, click subdomain to set up or change settings of subdomain.
Step 2) Give the subdomain name that you would like to have and click ‘Add’.
Step 3) This will create a directory like in the case of addon domain.
Step 4) The other options in the page include Setup Redirection to another URL, Remove Redirection and Delete.
