There are many articles on how to download Youtube Video with Kiss YouTube, YouTube Downloader and there are so many other options. But YouTube is not the only site out there which provides video content, there are hundreds of them and in fact the number is growing. You may also want to download videos from Google Video, MetaCafe, MySpace, Revver, iFilm, Putfile, DailyMotion and so on. KeepVid helps you to download videos from all these sites and most of the other sites too (As of now they have listed down 40 sites and you can also try downloading from other sites).

KeepVid

How to Download?

Go To KeepVid and give the URL of the Video or the Video Page that is to be downloaded and mention the source (such as YouTube or Google). If the site you are downloading from is not mentioned, then list it under any site.
Click Download and they will give a Download link from which you can download the Video file alone.

Like in most video downloader, the Video that is downloaded will be in Flash format (.flv).

Download FLV Player from Applian or Download.Com

But you can always convert .flv format to WMV or AVI or any other format for free. Find out how in my next post.

My 12 year old son was standing behind me while I was reading this post. He goes “whoa, let’s use that!”. I have a feeling my hard drive is going to get a lot of new videos later lol.

      Hi,

Y download a software to convert an flv video?

With Vixy.net, you can submit an url, which will be converted to a different video format(MPEG4(AVI/MOV/MP4/MP3/3GP)) an that too online. Then you can download the converted file.

@Vijeesh, That is a good utility online. I checked it out but it is taking the URL from YouTube and their site only. So if you want to download video from other site, first you have to use keepvid to download and then upload that video to their URL and then download the converted Video. So, I guess it will be easier to convert with a installed software which mostly everybody has but most of them don’t know that they can use it to convert!!!

Actually, if you’re really clever, have a look in your browser’s cache and you may find the file already there. The file size usually gives it away, even if it has no file extension and some sort of odd code like BE959317d01. Try opening it with VLC player (or some other player like Winamp). If it plays, you can copy it out of the cache and rename the file, which should probably have an FLV extension tacked on (verify with Gspot in Windows– it may be something else, like a WMV or divx). That’s in Firefox; not sure about IE6 or 7 how they’re marked.

You do actually have to PLAY the video to have it in the cache.
