Know A Word – Reprography

Probably you would have used the words Xerox, Fax, Scan, Printing, Photograph etc thousand times but never heard the word Reprography.

Reprography refers to the same and it’s the collective term.

Reprography = Repro+Graphy
Edit: (Repro – Reproduce, Graphy – Writing or representation produced in a specified manner or by a specified process)

Reprography means reproducing documents or images through means of mechanical, electronic or photographic. So photocopying, Xeroxing, Fax, Scan, Printing, photography and everything related comes under Reprography.

Originally Reprography was used by architects, engineers and mapmakers etc to make multiple copies of technical drawings. This is called Architectural Reprography.

  1. FYI, “Graphy” doesn’t mean “Study”. It has meaning of “Write”.
    “Logy” means “Study”…
