Yahoo Messenger, one of the widely used Instant Messenger Program, has some rather unknown features to most of us, which are quite helpful. One such feature is the stealth setting. Most often if you don’t want to be disturbed by anybody when you are online, you remain in invisible mode. But this secludes you from everybody who includes your close friends and family.
So, how to show or hide your online presence to a selective few?
If you want to show your online presence selectively, then you can individually keep the stealth setting for each contact in your messenger list. It’s easier if you have organized your contact lists into different groups so that you can keep the stealth settings at a group level.

To set the stealth setting for a contact or a group, right click and roll over the mouse to Stealth Settings and choose between Appear online, Appear offline or Appear permanently offline.

When you appear offline to a few contacts and online to the other set of contacts, you can easily identify to whom you are shown online or otherwise. If a particular contact or group name is italicized that means you appear offline to them.
By this way you have the right to display your online presence to only whom who wanted and when you want it.

It’s funny that you posted it here…nice info… heheheee… i’ve been using this stealth setting (discovered it months ago)…when i don’t want to be disturbed especially when i’m extremely busy ( playing games, blogging, sleeping) I’m online 24/7 and this helps me a lot.. especially when i’m hiding from my psycho ex-gf.. hehe
