Google Analytics Stopped Working for Me

Google Analytics has stopped reporting since sometime yesterday for me though the status in analytics settings is still displaying as receiving data. According to mybloglog stats, I have received more than usual traffic yesterday but Google Analytics has not recorded any data.

Does anybody else facing the same issue? If not does anybody have any idea what would have went wrong?

Update: Looks like many are facing this issue and still the data has not been restored. It will be very bad if Google loses any data. Many are also reporting that the data reported by Google Analytics is incorrect as it is not matching with other reporting tools installed in the same blog. I think Google has to do a major redo in Analytics and at this point it looks like Microsoft is coming up with its own analytics tool named Gatineau

Update(31-July): The missing reports have come back me from 28th Aug. But I am not sure about the accuracy of the reports as it has reported 50% drop in organic traffic which I believe is not true. Some others also have reported the same issue; let me know if you face the same.

I’m facing some problems with Google Analytics. It doesn’t report search engine hits for my blog exactly, though Reinvigorate.net does it right.

My Google Analytic were still fine. I check it everyday. It work for me.

It didn’t work at all for me.. I had installed the plugin on my blog but analytics couldn’t gather data.. I tried a lot to make it work but nothing happened.. SO at last I had to give up my favorite Google Analytics :(

    5. 5 Mr.Byte

@dEEPAK, Did it work for at least sometime or didn’t work from the beginning?

    6. 6 dEEPAK

Didn’t work from the beginning itself..

I checked this morning and Google Analytics is working okay for me

    8. 8 Kevin

Just checked mine, and it stopped logging at 12pm est on 7-28-07 on 1 of my blogs. The other is working just fine.
I can’t find any problems on my end. By the way, love your site.

@Kevin, Thats the same situation I am having right now…so it looks like there might be some server issues…I wrote a mail to Analytics and I got only an automated response saying that there might be some delay in updating the reports if there are some system maintenance…Hope the data is not lost…

google analytics didnt work for me right from the begining ..dont know what might be the problem..what happened to this google product

I think many of the commenters are missing the point of your question.

The fact is, every so often Analytics goes haywire for a day or two and stops reporting entirely. For me, it’s a few times a month. The good thing is that eventually all the data gets updated, and everything is fine… they just have a backlog in their number crunching area.

The really odd thing this time is analytics didn’t just stop at a certain point, it just only recorded half the traffic for the last few hours. Not sure what the deal is… the new interface also seems to be much slower in updating than the old one.

This happens from time to time. Every time it has happened to me Analytics has “caught up” eventually - no data has ever been lost. Just a longer delay than usual in updating. Once there was a 2 or 3 day delay in reporting, but eventually all the data was there. Nothing you can do about it but wait.

I have a similar situation as Kevin. The last visit on my blog logged by Google Analytics is 1am EST 29/07/2007.

    14. 14 praveen

I also checked it and it is also working fine for me.

    15. 15 km

I checking my google analytics stat and it’s working fine for me

    16. 16 miketoner

I am seeing delays/no data also. Ive been using analytics just fine for about 1 month now. My last visitor shown on analytics was about 1am on the 28th. Are people still having problems?

    17. 17 Ashish Mohta

Should be a server problem. Google Analytics is not a real time stats gatherer. It might take some time for it too come. Should be a temporary problem

    18. 18 phhuang

I have the same problem, too! My stats stopped at Jul 29 am 12( 8). I have no idea what happens and have check my Google-Adsense data. It shows many people still visit my site.

I found your post by http://blogsearch.google.com. mmm … Part of Google BETA empire works fine.

BTW, those comments comfort me a little. Thanks forks.

Looks like Google is having some issues with Analytics….Does anybody know of any other free analytics tool which can give all statistics esp the organic traffic data…

    20. 20 Erik

I’m having the same problem across all four of my websites. No data since 7/28.

    21. 21 David

We are also having this same problem, and we have not modified anything on our site.

    22. 22 Mauricio

I am having the same problem. No data is being reported since the 28th of july. Actually on that day we got a portion of our traffic reported. After that nothing.

    23. 23 Ashish Mohta

looks like a common problem. we need to wait till google people comes out with something.

Joye: Mint is another famous till but its paid thats the only problem

    24. 24 Richard Williams

I’m having exactly the same problem at the same time as you, and my boss is also… hopefully it’ll sort itself out soon.

BTW, like the preview below the reply box!

    25. 25 Stefano Bittante

Same problem with all of the website I maintain.
No data is displayed since July 29th.

    26. 26 Jean-Marc Langevin

    27. 27 Kevin

Mr.Byte, I also use Statcounter.com its free and I never had any problems with it

    28. 28 Mr.Byte

Reports have started coming back though I am not sure about the accuracy of the reports as it has shown 50% drop in organic traffic over these days which I believe is not true…Another privacy issue with Google in Google Docs

    29. 29 Nirmal

      Mr.Byte,
I think this should be a temporary problem. BTW in your update you have mentioned 28 Aug, shouldnt it be 28 July?

    30. 30 Benedict Herold

      Joel,

If you’re more interested in organic traffic; you can checkout web log analysis software rather than trusting on 3-rd party tools. I don’t grantee they provide more sophisticated tools for analysis purpose but at least they provide you the data which you need for your analysis.

    31. 31 bob

is GA still having issues? it still shows no traffic for me though i know i have had visitors to my blog. i have nothing since july 28th or july 29th. nothing has been restored and i still get no data in my reports though it says that it is receiving just fine.

      can anyone help?
