Many assume that the limit of simultaneous download form a server is limited only to Internet Explorer but as it’s a web standard to limit the number of simultaneous download to 2, Firefox also falls under the same category. When you click a couple of files to download in Firefox you might have noticed everything adding up in the download manager but only two files get downloaded form a server at any time.
Note: You might have seen Firefox downloading more than two files at the same time but they may be from different servers.
So, how to increase the number of simultaneous download limit per server in Firefox?
Step 1: Open Firefox and type about:config in the address bar
Step 2: Search for network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server by entering this in the filter field.

Step 3: by default this would have set to 2, double click and set this digit to a higher number preferably under 10 to increase the simultaneous download limit per server. Also check out ‘How to Increase the Number of Simultaneous Download Limit in IE?’

cool tip. i wish i had known this before years !!!
You should especially do this if you have more than one ethernet port on your PC connected to the internet.
Hi,
I had dropped a comment some time back in a post, (it was a good one) and you challenged mozilla firefox against some browser..
I am a voracious fan of mozilla, and i did find a good number of posts on them , nice to see that
What browser do you use?
@bharadwaj, I use both Firefox and IE7 at the same time
Be cautious in using increasing the limit. 2 is optimal number and I suggest using it. Server might ban you if you exceed their download connection limit.
