How Did I Overcome IE7 Issue in Vista?
Long back, I wrote a post on Issues I faced with IE7 in Vista as it stopped working abruptly. I tried to find solutions online but nothing worked. I tried to reset Internet Options and with protected mode off but all in vain. Finally I decided to re-install Vista and IE7 started working. In that happiness I tried to install the softwares which I had earlier installed and did the vista updates. The horror struck again! IE7 stopped working!!!
After this, I pretty much guessed that its the issue with one of the softwares I installed, which is incompatible with IE7. I re-installed the Vista once again and I checked if my IE7 is working
after I installed each software. I did the system update and IE7 was still working.
Finally I came to know what is causing IE7 to destabilize. As my desktop is HP Pavilion t730i, I had earlier installed couple of softwares from HP to make the additional features like the extra keys in the keyboard and Hi-definition audio etc to work. These are designed for Windows XP home and I have done a clean install though I got an upgrade key for Vista Home Premium.
I stopped using these packed softwares from HP which had come
earlier with my XP home and I was able to IE7. So if your IE7 is not working try not to install the packed softwares HP or Dell which is designed for XP.

I’m sure that many of you must have faced a similar situation. Thanks so much for the info…it was driving me crazy…an area I don’t need much help in!
hi same problem with me too, i have reinstalled vista 2 times, i think after i load some of my programs which were running before i get the error.
will have to check and see
i have read many posts and there seems to be many answers to this problem which is scary. The fix that worked for me was to create a second user account as an administrator. Once I did that and logged in works great. I promptly downloaded Firefox as many blogs stated that Firefox still worked for them.
Dear Sir,
I installs Vista OS on my machine. Through my software code,
I clicks the link for WDC registriation , it creates multiple browsers for same link.
I click only one.
I was wondering it is Vista issue or IE7 issue. How do I resolve it?
Thanks for your help.

Download and install IE7 Pro. it takes care of this issue.and iit has crash protection too so you can just restart IE and pick up where you left off. BTW Firefox 3 faces the same problem. The “protected zone” in IE has that problem.
@Dr.Suhas Rao, Thanks for the input! IE7 pro is the best plugin ever for Internet Explorer. Even I have been facing the same issue in Firefox 3. So far it has not shown any problem while browsing. When I close the Firefox window, it crashes and send a report through crash reporter. Still investigating what might be the problem.
Another thing, If you are using a laptop and have the old Synaptics driver it clashes with Vista OS itself
Every time I try to use IE7 it says the page can not be displayed. I tried downloading firefox an the same thing would happen-’page can not be displayed’, ‘Connection not found’. Anything I can do?
@Samantha, You have to ask your internet service provider for this as setting up internet varies very largely depending on the kind of internet service.
Samantha, try going to internet options>connections>LAN settings and check the box automatically detect LAN settings.
Br. Byte I really would like a review of Opera which has the fastest rendering engine (Presto) started most of the trends (tabbed browsing, mouse gestures, now speed dial)and has a pretty comprehensive suite of applications like integrated email, bittorrent support etc.
Why has it been consigned to a corner?
I am also facing the same problem. I bought a new hp pavilion dv6700t laptop pre-installed with vista home premium. While brousing automatically a window saying “Internet explorer stopped” with options to close the IE and another option to find a solution online and restart the IE. I tried both options manytimes still the problem exists. Even I cannot download mozilla. If I try to download, the same stopped window comes. Can anybody please tell me the best way to resolve the issue.
Is this due to the pre-installed softwares by HP?
Thanks,
I have a problem that is really irritating me. My Internet Explorer will not connect to the internet, while my Firefox browser will. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but I have a program that needs to connect to the internet by going through Internet Explorer, but it cannot. I have looked all over the internet for a fix, disabled all of my add-ons, and many other things, but so far nothing has worked for me. Does anyone know of a fix that would work?
goto internet explorer properitys click advanced tab n click run as administers at least you can get back to internet untill you find a better soultion …
I installed Opera! No problems……..
