Note: After writing this post, many have started asking questions regarding issues with HP Pavilion Entertainment PC – DV6500 and other related laptops. I have tried to answer most the issues at the end of this post and in the comments section.
It’s been a while since I got my new laptop and I couldn’t post any details on that earlier. So here it is…
It’s a customized HP Pavilion dv6500 Notebook PC and I love it. I am a fan of HP and all the desktops and laptops that I have got so far are from HP. I love their sleek design!

Windows Experience Index:
All the subscore including gaming graphics are above 4.3 but the graphics score for Windows Aero is only 3.2 and so the Base Score of Windows Experience Index is 3.2. Here is the list of subscore for all different parameters.
Processor (4.9) : Calculations per second
Memory RAM (4.8) : Memory operations per second
Graphics (3.2) : Desktop performance for Windows Aero
Gaming Graphics (4.3) : 3D business and gaming graphics performance
Primary Hard Disk (4.6) : Disk data rate transfer
Issues and Solutions: Many of you have been visiting here looking for some issues and solutions. First search in the comments if there are any issues realated to yours and for any following comments with solutions. If not write down your comments and I’ll try my best to solve them.
Software and Driver downloads for HP Pavilion DV6500
Here are some of the most frequently asked issues:
HP Quickplay not working: First try to updated or reinstall the HP quickplay driver. Download from the link provided above. Or HP quickplay may have been disabled in the startup, read this post for more details on how to add or remove programs from the startup.
HP Webcam: Using HP webcam to record videos and take images and other uses from HP QuickPlay.
Monitor goes blank: Sometime the monitor goes blank, read this post for more details.
Battery not charging: Remove the battery completely from the laptop. Wait for sometime (like a min to discharge any static or residual current) and then assemble it. This is more like the same solution when the monitor goes blank which I have described previous to this one.

Recently i bought HP pavilion dv 6500 i found its battery last for few 40 minutes.can somebody tell me what is the back up time noramally .
@bony, that looks like less. But I cannot say until I know how many cell battery do you have and also do you run intensive programs during that. Normally I would say a 6 cell battery should last atleast for 2 hrs if you run lots of applications.

how do you use the web cam
Hello, I just recently got this laptop, the hp pavilion entertainment pc. And for some reason it doesnt allow me to download anything. It comes up with “Administrator Permission” messages and then normal “Permission” messages. I cant download anything, from programs to normal microsoft templates. Nor can I update any software installed. Could someone please help. Also, the account im using is the administrator of the laptop, so its not that i dont have permission.

i made sure nothing was on mute.. all the volumes were up but my speakers on my laptop still arent working.. i just got the lapton for christmas…. do you know why im not getting any volume?

yeas i have the dv 65000 series and when i use my webcam to record videos it records but when in playback mode it stops after 15 seconds,anyone know how to fix this issue?
I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC and the only problem that I’m having is that my battery seems to lose enegry extremely fast. Another problem that I’m having is that my PC turns on sometimes no matter how long I charge the battery. Is there any solution can I call the company to see if I can get a replacement.
I have got one of this laptop but it doesn’t boot at all. It tells me to boot from recoverable partition but it hangs and stays there.

i bought the hp-pavilion-entertainment-p last 3 weeks back. i feel some thins are nice at he same time the mouse hand pad is not working properly some its getting dragged, and the sound mute and sound volume reduce increase touch pad is not working properly, when i bought the note book i got the sound high but now stage the sound is reduce in the full volume mode. then heat is some more better… then important one the inner side lft hand and right hand side the bending joinds are not good..

i got some proplems with this laptop
well, i replaced windows vista with the old XP
and since then i got some proplems with the data
and the laptop is always in risk and my anti-virus program couldn’t
remove those viruses, i tried to formate the laptop lots of times, but the viruses never go.
so my Questions are:
1- how could i reinstall windows vista?
2- which anti-virus you Prefere to use?

i currently own a hp pavilion tx2117cl entertainment notebook PC and my current problem is my headphone jack. everything is perfectly installed but when i try to use my headphones, the music or movie plays on the speakers and totally ignores that i even put in the headphones even tho the laptop itself knows i have plugged it in, it wont work like it supposed to, its rejecting to play through the headphones

I bought the HP PAVILLION ENTERTAINMENT PC at setember 2008 after using for sometime the Pc fails to opens the Screen shows strips,lines,but if you wsitch it open,the PC starts to open but the does’nt show anything,I think there is a problem with a display,moinitor

Any fixes to lighting up the keypad? I saw postings about the difficulty seeing it after I purchased it. For the most part, I don’t look at the keys however, there are times I need to see where a certain, special key is and unless I tilt the screen at just the right angle, I can’t make it out. Other than that, I love this laptop!!! Oh, yeah, the sound could be a little louder.
I got a hp pavilion entertainment pc dv6500 for my daughter in December. everything was going fine but back in may the dvd/cd stoped working. I have tried about everything i can think of but can not get it working again. the driver may be bad so I tried update, nothing, so I took the driver off and tried to put a new one on but nothing, nothing works. what can I do.

I own an HP pavilion entertainment PC, and on my 8th month of using it, it would no longer keep a charge or start. I recently went to staples, and they thought it was a short in an inner wire or due to the fact my charger broke making me not us my HP charger, i began to use my sony charger for playstation, they said this would cause the laptop to crash. Is that really so? I figured the sony charger fit perfectly and even now when i bought a new HP charger, it still does not work. What should I do?

For those who want to install win XP in their HP DV6500 series should use nLite software to make XP CD which can be used to Install. For that U need NLite software as well as SATA drivers from any SATA Hard Drive. Copy themand Enjoy.
Well I’ve HP DV6530TX laptop, recently it shows that the charger is plugged-in and the light of the DC sockets is turned on however it does’t charge. Can u tell me is it the fault of charger pin, socket or in the motherboard?
i purchased the laptop about 1.5 yrs ago, to use for picture storage only, but it has now become the portable computer for eveyone in the house.. last week the internal driver got stuck because the spring broke, has anyone else had this problem. got it fixed but i pd too much as I could have put it toward a new laptop.

This is realy a very good laptop but i am facing a problem since i have changed its mother board that it show the standard VGA monitor and the maximum resolution avaiable is 1024 X 768 pixels while it would have been 1280 X 800. due to this the screen display is a bit dull. can you help me that wat is the actaul reason for this.

My wife bought a HP PAVILION DV6500 ENTERTAINMENT , back in Nov of 2007 at Best Buys .Cost her $1,100us dollars the laptop run well for about 8months after WHICH it JUST started to cut-off ,refusing to work with the battery ,NOT WILLING TO START. We are from the Caribbean and we tried calling HP help-Desk no help to inform them and it was the worst thing .I even ask whether there dislike people from the Caribbean cause all I was getting was Only run- around sir we cannot help call our Latin America number ,call the Latin America number, senor we don’t understand English call this number. The laptop never fell neither was it hit , i could have lived with it know that it fell.$1,100US DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN .THANKS A LOT Hewlett-Packard
ive had this hp pavilion entertainment pc dv6500 laptop for almost 2 years. Okay so i was on youtube & it just automatically shut off. So i go to turn it back on & the windows error recovery pops up so i click “start windows normally” well after that a blue screen pops up & says something like a problem was detected & then quickly disappears and goes to the windows error recovery again. i dont know whats wrong with it. And i dont have the installation disk anymore. What do i do?

I have the HP Pavilion dv6500 Entertainment Notebook PC, i have had it for a while and i have a number of people have a look at it as it runs incredibly slow, i have just read through the spec you have listed above but mine are not the same, for example:
the system type is a 64bit operating system and your specs says it should be 32bit,
it has also got programs on it for it to run as a tablet however it is not a tablet.
Primary Hard Disk (4.6) : Disk data rate transfer mine is 4.5
my base score is 3.1 yours is 3.2.
Graphics (3.2) : Desktop performance for Windows Aero mine is 3.2.
My dad bought it for me and i have had issues from day 1 and i just want a computer that works properly.
any suggestions for what i should do are very much appreciated
