Software and Driver downloads for HP Pavilion DV6500
Here are some of the most frequently asked issues:
HP Quickplay not working: First try to updated or reinstall the HP quickplay driver. Download from the link provided above. Or HP quickplay may have been disabled in the startup, read this post for more details on how to add or remove programs from the startup.
HP Webcam: Using HP webcam to record videos and take images and other uses from HP QuickPlay.
Monitor goes blank: Sometime the monitor goes blank, read this post for more details.
Battery not charging: Remove the battery completely from the laptop. Wait for sometime (like a min to discharge any static or residual current) and then assemble it. This is more like the same solution when the monitor goes blank which I have described previous to this one.

My mute and wireless touch buttons are both red and will not respond.
Sound and wireless, however, still work. Though I can’t adjust the volume with the top bar touch pad. Restarting, shutting down and taking out the battery do nothing. Please help

hi i also have the same problem as Ravi.
i have installed windows 7 but its not supporting the sound, does anybody know where i can download the right sound driver?
Coronas,
If you are still checking this forum you need to add the drivers it requires to your installation disk through a process called slipstreaming. It is a kinda complicated process, but that is what is required to reverse engineer these machines. Microsoft strongarmed the manufactures and forced Vista down their throat by requiring that they not make it easy to use the superior OS that is XP.
nlite is a great program for making it a bit easier, but you will have to search around for the Intel drivers for the SATA and figure out how to slipstream your install disk. I had to figure all this out when I converted to xp and spent way too much time on it, but enjoyed the end result since unattended installs with all updates and common software slipstreamed it rocks.
Also you are going to have to search around for drivers in xp. I found them all but it was a trek. Somebody has a website out there that I used which made it MUCH easier. I forget the website now though – sorry.
To everyone else, I am looking at going to Win 7, problems with anything but sound drivers? When I do the windows compatability test it says my RealTek sound card is compatible with Win 7, is this wrong? The only thing it says I will have a problem with is that the quicklauch buttons wont be supported. Does that include the volume and mute too? because those are the only ones I use. Anyone find Win 7 drivers for these?
