I wrote in my last post, that lets turn off the monitors and save energy when the computer is not running from this Earth Hour. It saves a lot of energy, you may read here on how much energy is consumed by a monitor if its left running for 1 whole year.
So how to switch off the monitor after specified time of non-usage automatically?
I know many like to use Screen Savers but the truth is its going to consume energy as well, so change the settings today and make sure you turn off the monitors if you are not using it.
To change the settings,
Go to Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Power Options.
Click Change Plan Settings and adjust the time under Turn Off the display.

This helps a lot too if you are running your laptop without power cable as it improves battery life.

Very Informative Post. Stumbled
hey very good info. I use local cooling, it is also a very useful tool. I saved around 8 Kilowats in 3 days.
For me this is enabled by default and time is 5 min.
It saves the display too…if you are doing this your display monitor’s life will also be longer.
@Shashank, Yeah it definetly improves monitor’s life…
