Did you ever know that there is a Favorite Links section on the Windows Explorer left sidebar in Vista? For a long time, I always thought these links are some standard shortcuts provided in Vista, since the title is kind of in a blind spot with gray font color. But the good news is you can actually edit and add new links to point to different folders that you would frequently use.

So how to manage Favorite Links in Vista Windows Explorer?
Easy Method: Just go to the folder, drag and drop to the Favorite Links Sidebar (in the Navigation Pane) and your shortcut will be stored in there.

Or, right click on the empty space below the favorite links and click Open Favorite Links Folder (which is same as Start -> (USER NAME) -> Links). Here you can add, delete, or edit shortcut links that you want to appear in the Windows Explorer Sidebar.

To rearrange the list of shortcuts in the sidebar, again just drag and drop.

Advantage: Pin Favorite Links in Save As option.
Adding the favorite links also helps to quickly access folders while saving files. You can see the favorite links section in the sidebar of Save As option. So if you use a particular folder to save files more often, you can pin that folder to the favorite links.

If you prefer to use keyboard shortcuts to open folders rather than using favorite links, you can also create your own keyboard shortcut to open any folder in Vista.
