How to use inbuilt webcam in HP Pavilion Entertainment PC to record videos and snapshot?

After writing the post about my customized HP Pavilion DV6500 Entertainment PC with Windows Vista, many have been looking for some issues and solutions. One of the major issues and doubt is how to use the inbuilt webcam in HP laptops.
Use the HP QuickPlay button which is located at the top of the keyboard to start the QuickPlay. Usually the QuickPlay buttons are highlighted in blue color and if its not highlighted then it may be either disabled during startup or the driver is not working. Check this post on how to add or remove startup programs and applications or check this post to find where you can download drivers for HP Pavilion Entertainment PC.
If the HP QuickPlay is disabled, you may also start it by going to Start –> type quickplay in the seach box –> Enter.
In the QuickPlay, Click the Video Icon.
From the Source section, if you find HP Webcam, double click to start it. Or if you don’t find it, check for USB Video Device and double click it. This will start the webcam.
Use the Record button at the bottom to record the webcam video and the Snapshot Image button to take pictures using the webcam. The recorded Videos will be stored in Public -> Public Videos -> HP Webcam.
You can also use the webcam with the Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Skype etc. Use the webcam button in the messenger software and it will automatically start the webcam.

i’ve tryed to get the webcam in my hp to work but i have no buttons on the bottom of the screen to make videos and snap pics …… record and camera buttons
@mikalamoose, Quickplay will not show these buttons all the time, you may have to move the mouse to the bottom of the screen so it pops up. Also make sure you have the current version of quickplay (see other post for link to download all HP related software and drivers). I have quickplay 3.2
I did all that you wrote, but everytime I play the video I recorded; the sounds don’t match up with the faces. The sounds are normal, but the video plays so fast!
Im cheking,and folow your advice for start my camera,but without succes,i just buy a hp pavilion dv6500 and i can use my web cam for nothing,like is not install,my brother have the same lap top and the same problem?

@Sansa, Go to Vista Start Button and Type ‘Device Manager’ and from the programs list click Device Manager. From the list see if you have anything name Imaging devices. Expand it and see if you have HP webcam. If you dont have it then you might have to call HP or download webcam Driver from HP website (see my other post for Drivers for HP Pavilion DV6500). If its there then you have to update the driver as it may be corrupted.

Iv Used My CAM oN MY Laptop B4, But For SOmereason I Click ON The HPWEbcam Thing, And Then I Just Showz Up With A Quickplay Link, As If IT wAs Going To start A Movie. Why Is THis? Its Really Annoying When I Want To Use THe Cam And IT Sayz ITs Not Connected, ITS GOD DAMM INBUILT!!!!!!!! Its Drving Me Crazy Please HelP!!!!!

i got a hp pavilion dv6435ca but my built in webcam not working it not in my hp quickplay and it not even in my device manager:S any help??
i have sued my webcaqm before but all of a sudden it has stopped working. i go into the quickplay where i have ghot it to work before but now the record button anf the quick shot button don’t even appear when i double click on the webcam button. when i tried to used my webcam for something else it told me that its either being used by another application or it is turned off. please, any advice?
I got into Quickplay, and clicked on the Video Icon, but when I get into my webcam, where it should show video, it just has a black screen.
If this helps you figure out my problem any, when I am in msn and I try to use my webcam, it says, that my webcam is currently unplugged or disalbed (how can it be unplugged it is built in, so that can’t be right. but I would try to inable it, but I can’t figure out how!).
Please help me! I don’t know what to do and I have had my laptop for probably over a year!!!

After reading the instructions for how to record video using the HP webcam when I go to public video to see my recording it plays elevater music and so I cant hear anything I said. It also plays too fast. I was very disapointed because I followed the instructions and now I am looking at weird recordings of myself. I’m very upset about this since I expected better instructions…thanks a lot!>(

every time i press the quickplay button it automatically comes up with the dvd menu and i dont know how to get out from that. help!
Every time i try to connect the webcam on the latest version of AIM i get “an error occured…please restart Aim and try again.” all of my drivers are up to date and firewalls are off what could it be…

I to am having problems with my in built webcam. It was working yesterday, but when i went to turn it on today it was green with lines over it. Then when i tried to restart it, it went black and has been ever since. I have all the up to date drivers. I can capture in quickplay but its just black.
Any ideas?

With over 1000 different Pavilion models, there are so many different challenges with the built-in laptop webcam on Pavilions that it’s scary.
I can get it to record on quickplay but it wont work on yahoo messanger will it onlt work when two people have a webcam

Okay, I am trying to figure out mine, and when I double click HP webcam, The screen just comes up black and there is no record button… what am I doing wrong?
How do I erase videos I recorded? I tried deleting them in the public videos file, but it still has the video in the QuickPlay library with a exclamation point beside it. Can someone help me?

I have had my HP Pavilion Entertainment dv6000 PC for a couple years now, but it has only been recently that my HP Pavilion Webcam has stopped working.
I have emailed HP several times, and I did what they said and it worked, but it wasn’t long until it stopped working.
I still havent found a successful solution for it.
When I go to ‘Device Manager’ I go to ‘Imaging Devices’ and I see my HP Pavilion Webcam under it, but it has a ‘!’ in a triangle and it says
‘This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click ‘Check for solutions’ to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.’
People have said that you do something with a Sonix USB?
But when I go to my Universal Serial Bus Controllers, I do not see it so I cannot roll it back.
I’m getting very frustrated with this so could someone please give me some useful advice?

i just bought the brand new Entertainment pc. its DV6 its a 2.0 with 512 mb graphics and all. its absolutely wonderful. although being a prior XP user Vista home premium provided with it is a bit slow. otherwise the graphics are excellant on its 15.6″ screen and the keyboard is one of the best in its class.
Hi Im Not Very Good With Computers But….I Know Some Things Like How To Follow Directions So I Have Windows 7 And I Cant Play With My Webcam I Hvae The HP Pavilion dv6000 And I Have The Little Butons But They Dont Work Their Blue But Every Time I Press Them Nothin Happens Please Tell Me What To Do?
