(Windows Vista Home Premium)
Can't run or exicute anything as Administrator, even though i am logged in with the Administrator account!
Right click and run as Administrator only results in "Access Denied".
I need a way to get control of the privalages for the Administrator account, possably an external program or boot CD.
Can't run MMC, regedit, control panel, services, UAC, or install anything or even delete a simple txt file without the User rights managment console!
Any bright ideas?

please correct me if I'm wrong. Running Vista, when you put CMD in the OPEN run line you don't get option "run as Administrator" only get "cut, copy, paste, delete, Right to left Reading order, Show unicode characters, Insert Unicode control character and Open IME. that's it. no "run as administrator". what am I missing?

Um doesnt this defeat the purpose, as to access the administrator you must first either have admininstrative privleges or an adin password, or you cannot run the command line as Administrator, (otherwise you get system error 5 when attempting to turn this account on). Also pressing f8 on start-up and booting in safe mode etc. will still not work unless you are on XP.

if you people continue to have issues, press F8 on start up to boot in safe mode.... when the welcome screen appears, your admin login will be there.... login as admin (by default there is no password on the administrator account so do not enter one!!!).... when desktop is fully processed, you need to open the cmd.... in the cmd type "net user administrator /active:yes" (without the quotation marks!!!)..... it will give a message as to whether or not it was successful.... after it is successful, you need to restart once again with a normal boot and your administrator login will be available (as before, by default, the administrator account has no password!!!) Hope this helps!

Having done these steps:
1. Click on start
2. Search cmd
3. Right click cmd and choose “run as Administrator”
4. Type “net user Administrator /active:yes”
5. Press enter

I get a response line saying:
System error 5 has occurred.
followed by a blank line and then another line saying:
Access is denied.

I have verifed via the users section under Manage under Computer that the user id I am logged in as is a member of the Administrators group.

Any other suggestions?
